Ones to Watch. Issue #6.

Oi oi, we are kicking off (excuse the pun) with a few World Cup themed trends this month, because let’s face it, it is hard to avoid – even for someone who knows very little about football so bear with me.
Football Italia bar
Newly opened in Camberwell, South London, Golazio celebrates everything that was great about the 90’s Serie A league and the best stone baked pizzas. Owner Tim wanted to combine his love for Football Italia with an American concept that he picked up while travelling The States in his 20’s – pizza by the slice. Showing full-length classic games on three big screens, displaying a collection of vintage memorabilia, serving Italian inspired cocktails and even playing Pavarotti in the toilets, you will be transported back in time to the days of Gazza, Signori and Lombardo. If that wasn’t reason enough to visit it is also the only bar serving Italian craft beers South of the river, and 12 different varieties at that. Themed bars are growing ever popular but this is one of our favourites, the more niche the better.
If watching the World Cup in the pub isn’t adventurous enough for you, then Budweiser may have the answer. Docking their catchy named ‘Bud Boat’ on London’s Southbank for the next four weeks, you can enjoy all the games afloat the Thames and in this glorious sun too. With a big screen on the upper deck you can cheer on your sweepstake team with a cold Budweiser in hand naturally. Our best bit is the chance to recreate your own World Cup man of the match moment with a Budweiser trophy. According to their Senior Brand Manager, the brand wants to enhance the viewing experience beyond the screen and is also planning after parties on the lower deck with some of the best DJ’s in the UK. They have created the experience with fans at the heart of the campaign, bringing them together to create the ultimate World Cup viewing experience.
Love Island x Thorpe Park
If the World Cup isn’t your cup of tea, then you might be glued to the TV this month for a different display of athleticism, otherwise known as Love Island. Okay athleticism may have been a stretch, but there are a lot of muscles on show and some competitive flirting. For the super fans, Thorpe Park have launched the only Love Island fan experience; Love Island Lates which will be on every weekend of the summer. They have challenges similar to the show with a chance to win prizes and live DJ’s all on their very own beach, with themed cocktails. Of course they will also be playing episodes and there will be even be surprise visits from some of the evicted islanders. Slap on some fake tan and be an islander for the day, just don’t be an Adam.
If like me you are overwhelmed by Pinterest boards of kitchen tiles, house plants, bi-folding doors and navy statement walls but have no idea where to start when it actually comes to distilling all these into a room, then I have the answer. Several designers have launched their own online interior design companies. They work by providing professional mood boards based on photos you have submitted of the room in need of a refresh, your styles and budget. As with anything the more you pay the more qualified the designer. What you get in return is a mock-up of the finished room and mood boards of the items to purchase, all bespoke to your room and the measurements. The sure way to make your friends envious of your style when they come round for a cuppa on your new chaise lounge draped effortlessly in a cashmere throw (you don’t have to tell them you had some professional help!).
Crayola x ASOS
When I was younger, crayons were one of my favourite toys so I was excited to hear that the crayon giant will now be acceptable for me to start carrying round again. Yes Crayola along with ASOS have launched an exclusive make-up line including eyeliners and eye palettes in all sorts of colours. Bringing a bit of fun and nostalgia to our make-up bags. They don’t just look super cool with all products presented in colouring boxes and impersonating crayons, but according to Refinery29’s beauty editor they work pretty well too. Sure to be a big hit with all ages so get yours fast.
